About Ms. Quinn
Betsy Quinn is the Drama Teacher and Arts Department Chair at Haven Middle School. She is also serves as the Chair of Evanston-Skokie School District 65 Drama Department. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Theatre at Northwestern University teaching courses in Creative Drama and Advanced Creative Drama. Ms. Quinn was recognized on Northwestern's 2021-22 Associated Student Government Faculty & Administrator Honor Roll.
Ms. Quinn is a Past President of the American Alliance for Theatre and Education (AATE), serves as Vice President of Governance on the board of the Children’s Theatre Foundation of America and recently ended her term on the Alumni Board of the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame. She was the co-chair of the Theatre Writing Team for the National Coalition for Core Arts Standards and served as a writer for the Partnership for 21st Century Skills. She was also a member of the advisory team for the new Illinois Arts Standards.
She has a M.F.A. in Child Drama from Arizona State University, a M.A. in Educational Administration from Northeastern Illinois University and a Master of Nonprofit Administration from the University of Notre Dame.
Ms. Quinn received the Creative Drama Award and the Barbara Salisbury Wills Award from The American Alliance for Theatre and Education and was awarded the Creative Dramatics Award from the Illinois Theatre Association. She received the award of honor from the Illinois Theatre Association. During the summer of 2011, she was honored by AATE with the creation of the Betsy Quinn Scholarship Initiative. She was honored with the District 65 High Five Recognition. She led the team of Drama Department educators recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education with the 2022-23 Those Who Excel Team Award for Meritorious Service. She received an honorable mention for the 2023 Tony Award for Excellence in Theatre Education.
